Muay
Thai Training Camp Schedule
Workout
times are 7:00 a.m-10:30 a.m. for the morning session,
and 3:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. for the evening session.
The
running program meets each morning at 6:30 a.m. for a scenic
run on the beach or in the mountains.
Sean
and the trainers run with the students every morning.
The
morning run is about 1-1.5 hours long. Transportation is available.
Usually, during the morning workout, students will get plenty
of one-on-one time with the trainers. The trainers will watch
your technique, and if needed, make suggestions and give advice
about style, stance, technique, and tactics. The evening session,
while similar to the morning workout, concentrates on interactivity
and sparring sessions in the ring or cage.
BBQ Parties @ Tiger Muay Thai, Phuket, Thailand
A
couple of times a month, or after a student or trainer has
a Muay Thai fight in Phuket or Patong. The Muay Thai camp
/gym throws a BBQ party and bonfire on the sports green behind
the training gym. Everyone gets together, trainers and their
wives and students with their Thai girlfriends and feast on
BBQ chicken and ribs. The Muay Thai trainers wives make spicy
Thai salads and platters of fresh fruit, and everyone sits
around the fire drinking and listening to music, and talking
Muay Thai.
Muay
Thai Fight Nite parties @ Patong, Thailand
We will also throw parties in Patong, Kata and Karon for our
students after their Muay Thai fights. Everyone gathers at
popular local bars to celebrate a win or console a loss. The
owners of the bars layout large tables with fruits and snacks
for everyone. Fight nights are an exciting night for everyone
at the gym. Many, if not all, of the students put on their
Tiger Muay Thai Phuket, shirts and head off together to the
stadiums in Patong, Karon, or Phuket City. Someone is always
driving, so transportation is never a problem. At the stadium,
we all sit together and cheer for our fighter and support
our gym. Many times, our training camp fighters or Muay Thai
trainers will face a Thai or foreigner from another local
gym which can get things really loud and exciting. Gambling
is legal in boxing stadiums in Thailand, and many students
will place bets on themselves and other students when they
fight Muay Thai.

| Frequently
Asked Questions - About Phuket |
Where
is Phuket?
Phuket is located on the south-western coast of Thailand about
11 hours from Bangkok by road and 1 hour by air. Phuket is an
island that is connected to the mainland by the Sarasin bridge
north of the airport. Phuket has a population of +400,000, and
has several towns (Tambon), and cities (Muang), including Phuket
City, Patong, Thalang, Karon and Kata. The island is approximately
60 km long and 20 km wide. Malaysia, Burma, and Cambodia border
south Thailand.
When is the best time to come
to Phuket?
Phuket has two distinct seasons. The dry season (high-season)
and the rainy season (low-season).
High
Season
The high season runs from November-April and the low-season
from May-October. Most tourists come during the peak of the
high-season in December. The weather is dry and hot with little
chance of rain. The sea is calm and flat on most beaches as
the wind blows offshore. The average temperature runs 32c-38c
with humidity around +80%, and rains about 1-2 days a month.
In high-season, prices rise a little for hotels and services
as more people arrive on the island.
Low
Season
Low-season brings the rains and the inshore winds. The island
is not as crowded in the low-season, but there are still plenty
of tourists. It can rain a lot in the low-season, sometimes
several days in a row, but there are plenty of beautiful and
sunny days as well. The average temperature runs between 26c-30c
and the humidity around +50%. The waves get bigger on the beaches
and brings the surfers and boogie boarders out to the beach.
The low-season is a great time to train with the cool weather,
little crowds, and great prices.
Phuket
is a tropical island in southwestern Thailand. Surrounded by
crystal white sands and beautiful blue water, Phuket is a popular
S.E Asian tourist destination for tourists from all over the
globe. Phuket has come a long way in the last 10 years, and
has developed into a premiere resort and vacation destination.
Phuket offers something for everyone. From affordable Phuket
Thai-style bungalows in a quiet coconut grove to world-class
resorts, and exotic nighttime entertainment, market bazaars,
scuba diving, adventure sports, cobra shows and elephant ride
tours, and stunning beaches, and, of course, Muay Thai. Phuket
has it all.
Phuket
Island is approx 50 kilometres long and 20 kilometres wide.
It is connected to the mainland via a four-lane bridge on the
northern part of Phuket island near the airport. Phuket is a
1 hour flight and 12 hour bus ride from Bangkok (tickets available
on a daily schedule), and a 2 hour flight from Singapore. Most
of the island has paved roads, lights, and is safe to travel
at all times on motorbike, taxis, tuk-tuks, or car. The Thai
people of Phuket are friendly, generous, and kind, and usually
speak at least a little bit of english.
One
of the best parts of discovering Thailand and Phuket is meeting
locals and getting to understand the unique Thai culture.
The best part is you can't stop smiling. Thai people and the
people of Phuket are friendly and smile when you meet them.
So whether it is the great prices, the fantastic weather, or
the colourful culture and history of Thailand, smile.
Welcome to Phuket, Thailand. A lush and tropical island, Phuket
is covered in coconut and oil palms and vast stretches of virgin
forest and rubber tree plantations. Phuket, Thailand has more
beautiful beaches than you can count. Travel down some tree
lined road and your sure to find a secluded beach with white
sands and clear blue water at the end. Phuket is truly a tropical
paradise.
Many of Phuket's popular tourist beaches offer lounge chairs
and umbrellas for rent, Jet ski, banana boats, parasailing,
power boat rentals, and, of course, beach side Thai massage
are also available. Tourists and students are always surprised
at how inexpensive a 1-2 hour massage or an hour on a jet ski
costs. Your money goes a long way here in Phuket, Thailand.
Phuket
City
Phuket
City, located in the southern portion of the island is a thriving
and bustling city with a population of more than 300,000. Large,
upscale and modern multi-level shopping malls (Central, Big
C, Lotus) offer everything from McDonalds and KFC to Thai cuisine
with dinner shows, and multiplex theatres and cinemas with feature
movies. Great bargains can be found at local night bazaars and
markets around Phuket.
Thai
vendors in Phuket sell everything you might need from sunglasses
to sandals, clothing, snacks, and fruit. Many people walk to
the local markets to experience Thai-style foods and snacks
and great prices on everything. Visiting local markets is a
great way to meet the Thai people of Phuket and experience the
real Thai culture and Thailand. Old Phuket Town's Sino-porteguise
architecture can be seen among antique shops and small businesses,
and celebrations are held each year as owners open their shops
along the main road. Phuket City features a Muay Thai stadium
and large public aquarium featuring exotic species of fish and
marine life. Many important offices like Immigration, Tourist
Police, and government ministries are located downtown Phuket.
