The Surfing Indonesia Boat Trip

VISA fees
If you've already entered Indonesia through Jakarta you will not need to pay the $25US VISA tax that they collect for your maximum 30-day stay.
If this is a direct flight from Singapore the first thing you'll have to do is pay the $25US fee at a special booth set up inside the customs area. Once you've paid they give you a special form that you must keep until your departure, we suggest leaving it inside your passport for safekeeping.

Customs
The fastest and easiest way to make it out of the customs area without having them go through your bags is to get a porter to handle your baggage. All you have to do is have 3 or 4 dollars ready to tip them. Pay careful attention to the porter that carries your bags, the general rule is to not give them the tip until your boards/luggage are loaded on the truck and stored away safely where they belong.

Meet and Greet
Once you've made it outside the customs area you will be met by a representative from Extreme Sports Café’s Indonesian Surfing School. They will then direct you to our transfer vehicles.

The Transfer
Once outside you experience all the hustle and bustle of Padang International Airport. Before you leave the airport parking lot do a quick spot check of your belongings to make sure all of your luggage has made it on to the designated vehicle.
If you are tired after your flight we provide an afternoon stay at Bumiminang Hotel, we will have made a reservation for you or you can go and explore the City of Padang. The boat leaves later that night.

The Hotel
The Bumiminang Hotel is the nicest hotel in Padang. Once you arrive you'll be check in and can grab some dinner from the restaurant inside the hotel. By this time you should have already met up with your captain or handler and will know exactly when they will be back to pick you and take you to the harbour.

The Harbour
You will be picked up later that day and will be transferred from the hotel to the harbour and you will finally get the chance to see the majestic Indian Ocean and our magnificent boat. You've waited long enough! Our typical trip will set off in the evening. As you settle into our boat you can watch a movie, read a book, play some PS2 or just relax.

Our Boat
For taking customers to the waves, Extreme Sports Café boat has a speedboat with a Suzuki 15 horsepower engine.

The surf is mainly hollow, heavy and fast. You won’t need a fish, so leave it home.
Most people bring 2-4 boards. Mid length boards generally get used and only occasionally do the short boards and guns get pulled out. Generally bring 4 surfboards - 2 shortboards (6'2"), one mid sized board for when it gets a little bigger (6'5"), and one gun for the biggest days (6'10").
If you are going to bring an extra board we would suggest a replacement for the board you will use the most as it is not uncommon to break boards.
Pack whatever you feel most comfortable surfing on. Be prepared to ding up your boards and possibly break a few of them on your trip. A good ding repair kit is crucial! The boat should have them but still ... bring your own just in case and some sort of sun cure resin for quick fixes (e.g. SOLARIS)

Most people can get their VISA upon entering Indonesia including citizens of the United States and Australia but before you purchase your airline tickets please do check.
• New Indonesian Visa System
- From 01-08-05 the visa system changed, so now you can get your tourist visa for 30 days when you arrive in the country.
• You have to arrive the day that the boat leaves and before 5 o’clock in the afternoon.
