Fantastic - so you want to learn
to fly...When, and where, do you want to go??
The weather in Thailand is good 365 days a year. Even on the days
when we have rain here it's normally only for a few minutes and
shortly after it's sunny and rapidly drying! In fact since Extreme
Sports Cafe has been here and opened Skydive Thailand, just outside
Pattaya we have not experienced a single day where we couldn't
jump because of the weather!
Why
not come and do a Tandem Skydive with us in Pattaya whilst on
holiday in Thailand? You need no previous experience and will
go away with a smile, life changing memories and a DVD with it
all recorded forever!
Extreme
Sports Cafe has many many extreme sports activities in Thailand.
We founded Skydive Thailand which is based in Jomtien, just outside
Pattaya. Skydive Thailand is the only commercial Drop Zone in
Thailand. Further more it is the only fully operational civilian
Drop Zone in South East Asia.
Our
Tandem Skydives,
Accelerated
Free Fall programs and Instructor
Assisted Freefall programs are run all year round, by both
locally based instructors and also instructors that come from
overseas to visit us close to Pattaya. We have pilots and skydivers
from both civilian walks of life and are honoured to have the
Thai Royal Airforce and military skydivers join us also. Skydive
Thailand is based at Pattaya Air Park, 9km south of Pattaya just
off Sukhumvit
Did
we mention that we
offer Introduction to Free Fall
courses as well as Tandem
Skydives for those wanting to experience skydiving for the
first time, or decide if they want to become a skydiver...
So why do we run our Tandem,
IAF, IFF and AFF courses in Thailand?
(Pretty much the same reasons
as we concentrate on skydiving in Spain for Europe)
1. The weather. It's
much more predictable & reliable than the UK! If you want
to learn in as short a time frame as possible - Skydive
Thailand (Pattaya / Jomtien) is the place to do it.
We recommend you come over for a 7-10 day period for one of our
scheduled
skydiving courses (some previous students have graduated in
just 3 days! and spent the remainder of the trip fun jumping).
We know a number of people who decided to learn in the UK, but
because of the weather, it took them a lot longer to complete
the programme. Don't waste your time sitting around a wet dropzone,
staring up at the clouds, praying for blue skies!!! Join
us in Spain, or in Pattaya,
Thailand to learn to skydive.

2. The price of the course itself.
We are offering the IAF AFF course
in Thailand for £1,250. In the UK - £1,500 is about
average. In Spain our skydiving course is £1100 and has
been for four years now, but does not include transfers and accommodation
(We think if you've come this far the least we can do is ease
the journey a bit for you and take the strain off when it comes
to finding a good hotel). In our course at Skydive
Thailand we pick you up from Bangkok, deliver you to a hotel
(all paid for) on the edge of Pattaya, and provide your
9 jump USPA or BPA skydiving course. The reason we put you on
the edge of Pattaya (actually 5 minutes away in a 10 Baht (15p)
Song Tau) is so that you can relax at our familly run hotel. If
you want to hit the wild nightlife of Pattaya you can. But if
you still want to be close to great restaurants, but away from
the hustle and bustle of the busy Pattaya nightlife you can also.
All of our courses and trips in Thailand are planned this way.
At our Kitesurfing
and Windsurfing centers,
our Paragliding / Paramotoring
schools, Climbing camps or
Diving resorts.
Coming
very soon we will be offering you the opportunity to learn to
fly with us at Skydive Thailand where we plan to run PPL (private
Pilots License) ground schools and flight training. So now it's
not only the school in Chonburi that will be offer flying lessons,
but also our very own Drop Zone location just outside of Pattaya.
Imagine chartering a plane to fly between Bangkok and Pattaya
and flying it yourself!
3. The location.
Thailand! "The
land of smiles." Food is delicious and cheap. The weather
is always warm, and you are a stones throw from Wakeboarding,
Kitesurfing, Windsurfing, Paragliding, Paramotoring, Flying or
just relaxing on a beach! Pattaya and Jomtien have totally contrasting
beaches , people and activites and are both a short trip away.
Pattaya has the hustle and bustle of bars, discos, malls, Western
and Asian cuisine, shopping galore as well as aall the silly holiday
activities like go-kart racing, bungee jumping etc. Whilst Jomtien
has quiet beaches, quality resorts, fantastic local food, yachting
etc. and a more relaxed atmosphere.
4.
Skydive Thailand. A brilliant dropzone
A
Fun Attitude, but very safety conscious. This is a very well
run dropzone and we have plans for a new aircraft this year
to supplement our hard working 206. We are also working on
advance plans for a Wind Tunnel, USPA and BPA affiliation,
international recognition ready for competition hosting and
a complex of accommodation, leisure activities and facilities
over the next 12 months to make Pattaya Air Park and Skydive
Thailand Drop Zone truly world class. You can find out more
about what we are up to on the official Skydive
Thailand web site.
- Friendly
& Professional Theres always someone willing
to help (from applying suntan lotion in those difficult to
reach places to advice on skydiving or anything else, such
as what to do tonight, where to go, what to eat & where
to drink!).
- Aircraft
Admittedly right now our 206 is overworked. But it
gets us to alitiude and has a snug cosy atmosphere where all
the jumpers get to know each other very well. Later this year
we will have a PIlatus Porter and that's when it'll get really
hectic! Whats more, we turn around the loads as fast
as there are jumpers. There is little time wasted, just sitting
around, waiting for the load
- Skydive
Asia voted our Drop Zone food the best food at any Drop Zone
in the world in 2005!
- The
views over the bays that Pattaya and Jomtien look out over
are just stunning. Morning, daytime or evening the view is
astonishing from 10,000 feet.
- We
are passionate about skydiving and are always there to help
- We
also have rigging services in Pattaya from a BPA International
Judge and Master Rigger. So you never have to worry about
your kit being safe and ready to jump.
- The
Thai Sky Festival
and The World Team.
Once a year skydivers from all over the world come to Thailand
and join the Royal Thai Air Force in Prachuap to jump from
Hercules and other exciting aircraft. Where better to come
for a boogie, and why not come and hang with us at Skydive
Thailand either before, or after, or both! And of course The
World Team skydiving world records are often practised and
set here in Thailand with the help of the Royal Thai Air Force.
5. Getting there.
Extreme Sports Cafe gets discount rates
at every hotel in Thailand, particularly in holiday locations
like Jomtien and Pattaya. We also have special knowledge of hotels
in popular locations
that are not on agency books and offer 5 class comfort for 3 star
prices. We also offer discount luxury travel between most major
locations in Thailand. So if you are hot footing it into Bangkok
just let us know and we can organise transfers from BKK to Pattaya,
Jomtien or anywhere else in Thailand for your skydiving, kitesurfing,
windsurfing, paragliding, paramotoring, climbing or simply relaxing
holiday with us.
6. It's our 'other' home away from
home. We go there
all the time, in fact Steve (one of the company's directors) who
learnt in Spain many moons ago now manages, films and coaches
skydiving at Skydive Thailand. So you'll be welcome to come join
us both on and off the Drop Zone, or we'll just organise everything
for you and ensure a personalised & tailored trip. The directors
of ESC actually have their own Skydiving Team: Team
Flying Dodo and are often there training.
7. Kevin McCarthy.
Our Principal AFF Instructor is one of the
most experienced BPA Rated Instructors and
it will be Kev & his team who will train you if you come to
one of our end of year camps at Skydive Thailand. Kevin has been
jumping since 1982 & in 1985 became a full time instructor
and worked at various parachute centres in the UK. He became involved
in the A.F.F program at an early stage of its development in this
country and has since gone on to train students from all over
the world. In 1989 Kevin was part of the team that won the 8 way
event at the British National Skydiving Championships. Kevin remained
part of this team for a number of years and was a British Champion
on 5 different occasions. In 1995 Kevin represented Great Britain
Competing at the World Cup & holds British and World Records
for formation skydiving. Richard Branson called on Kevin's services
to train him to skydive in preparation for his round the world
balloon trip.
8. It's a week of having fun. Complete
the AFF course & the 10 consolidation jumps - you'll come
back after a week with a tan, massive smile, hangover from the
celebratory drinking sessions in Pattaya, or at our Drop Zone
bar & more importantly, a USPA License or a BPA Category 8
rating & an FAI 'A' Licence. With these, you'll be welcome
at any DZ back home (for your fun jumps when the skies are blue)
and any other DZ worldwide. BTW, you'll also be expected to come
& jump with the ESC crew & Team Flying Dodo!!! We'll look
after you & help you progress within the sport at the pace
& in the disciplines you want (FreeFlying, Formation Skydiving
etc...) and we can arrange to get you gear & kit at reasonable
prices.
9. Its not just about Skydiving.
If you want to go with friends or family
and you need to find something to do which doesnt involve
falling out of a plane to keep them amused, Bangkok is an enchanting
city. Chon Buri which encompasses Jomtien, Pattaya and other coastal
ares south of Bankok is a beautiful region and there is so much
to do & see.
