Tandem
Skydive Experience with Extreme Sports Cafe at the Victoria
Falls.. |
 The
Victoria Falls - A World Heritage Site and one of the seven
Natural Wonders of the World, this is the largest curtain of
falling water on the planet… And you could be doing a
Tandem Skydive over the Falls with Extreme Sports Cafe…
Skydiving
has been done in Victoria Falls since 1996. Extreme Sports Café
has teamed up with a Skydiving Drop Zone in Zimbabwe, which
has been established in Victoria Falls and doing Tandem Skydives
since 2003. Thousands of Tandem Skydives have been done in the
small resort town which boasts the best Adrenalin Activities
in a single destination in Africa.
Extreme
Sports Cafe’s Victoria Falls Tandem Skydives include a
breath taking close up aerial view of The Mighty Zambezi River
and the Natural Wonder "The Victoria Falls".
The
Victoria Falls is approximately 5600 feet wide, twice the height
of Niagara Falls, and one and a-half times wider. The Falls
are divided into five separate waterfalls: Devil's Cataract,
Main Falls, Horseshoe Falls, Rainbow Falls and Eastern Cataract.
Peak
floodwaters usually occur around mid-April when around 625 million
litres per minute cascade over the edge per minute. The resulting
spray rises up to 1650 feet into the air.
During
this time (March-April), there is so much water flowing that
the spray makes it quite difficult to see the falls on land.
Victoria
Falls and the Zambezi River, which feeds the falls form the
border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. The Zambezi River is over
1650 miles long and is Africa's fourth largest river (after
the Nile, Zaire and Niger respectively) and the only one to
flow into the Indian Ocean.
The
original Victoria Falls was 8km downstream from the present
falls. Weaknesses in the basalt perpendicular to the river's
flow - plus 2 million years' erosion - have resulted in the
river cutting through seven subsequent gorges, each further
upstream from the previous one. The present-day falls is actually
in its seventh location.
Extreme
Sports Café’s new Zimbabwean Drop Zone operates
out of Victoria Falls International Airport, which is 23km by
road from Victoria Falls. We use a Cessna 182, and have a Cessna
207 and 206 available for Tandem Skydiving as well. All our
Instructors have over 1000 skydives and have Tandem Gear Manufacturers
Ratings. (USA)
Tandem
Skydive Victoria Falls US$250..
Includes
a DVD of your Tandem Skydive.
After
some brief but comprehensive ground training you will be taken
to altitude, 9000ft in our plane for your Tandem Skydive. The
flight to altitude involves climbing steadily over the Majestic
Victoria Falls and provides an excellent photo opportunity for
your cameras, which can be left in the aircraft when you exit
to do your Tandem Skydive. Once we approach the jump altitude
you will be clipped to your qualified Tandem Instructor and the
final checks carried out.
Safely
back on the ground after your Tandem Skydive and having had a
chance to reflect on the skydive during a canopy ride back to
the dropzone you will get to relive your Tandem Skydive experience
with a DVD of the whole thing from top to bottom!
The max weight for a Tandem Skydive with Extreme Sports Café
at The Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe is 95kg and you should be physically
fit.
Zimbabwe’s
Visa’s
It is cheaper to buy your Zimbabwe Visa on entry to Zimbabwe at
Immigration, than to buy it before you leave. In April 2005 a
single visa is US$30 and a double Visa is US$45. The exception
is for British and Irish passport holders where a Single Visa
is $55 and Double Entry Visa $75. New Zealand Passport holders
are currently free.
Please note these prices are subject to change. Visa’s can
only be paid for in US$ cash, no traveller’s cheques or
credit cards are accepted.

happens on a Tandem Skydive?

training you will be taken to altitude in a plane (typically 10,000
- 12,000 feet) and strapped to the chest of a fully qualified

accompanied by a skydiving cameraman. The 45 second freefall allows
you to experience skydiving and the opportunity to interact with
the cameraman. It will also change you forever!

had a chance to reflect on the skydive during a canopy ride back
to the dropzone you will get to relive your Tandem Skydive experience
with a *video of the whole thing from top to bottom!
