sea kayaking thailandSea Kayaking Thailand - Come and experience the natural wildlife and stunning beauty of Southern Thailand from a sea kayak, which makes it unforgettable.

Experience is certainly not necessary for most of our sea kayaking trips, we train beginners and novices during the sea kayaking trips and gear our trips accordingly. Most of our guests have never paddled before. Sea kayaking is an ever-growing and rewarding recreational activity. Nothing beats sneaking up on wildlife from the convenience of a kayak. You will have experiences in a kayak that paddle asiayou simply can’t by any other means.

Some sea kayaking trips are easier than others. Our Khao Sok National Park sea kaykaing trip is very easy. We spend a lot of time just sitting in our kayaks watching monkeys and birds.

Our Phang Nga Bay sea kayaking trip is another easy trip and is for just about everyone. You'll have to paddle through a few stretches, but all in all, it's very easy. All paddling is short and easy in protected waters. We usually paddle about 3 to 5 hours each day. This is flexible. Our support truck meets us at the end of every day. We'll have electricity, toilets, and a restaurant after a day's paddling.

The Holiday - Khao Sok National Park Sea Kayaking - Bird watching & Wildlife tour 3/ 4 days trips.

Level: Very easy (easiest)

Season: All year.

If soft adventure travel is appealing to you, Khao Sok is your best choice in southern Thailand for sea kayaking. Nowhere else comes close to the amount of wildlife you'll see in Khao Sok. The only way you're going to see this abundant wildlife is from a kayak.

sea kayak to see monkeysWe frequently see several species of Hornbill, large numbers of kingfishers reside in the area, along with dozens upon dozens of other colourful birds. Not only do we see birds but Long-tailed macaques (monkeys), pig-tail macaques, dusky langurs (monkeys), and even gibbons (apes) are seen on most trips. One thing is inevitable, you’ll see and/or hear monkeys! We’ve had numerous close-up wild pig sightings. Elephants can also still be found in the park, and though they are uncommon their tracks aren’t. The pace is slow and easy as the main focus of this trip is spotting southern Thailand's wildlife. Khao Sok also offers some of the highest limestone karst mountains in the world.

We stay in unique little floating bamboo bungalows. They are made out of low impact material. Bamboo and thatched roofs provide a very simple, environmentally friendly shelter, which fits well with the jungle surroundings. There is no electricity in the bungalows, but there is in the restaurant and toilets. Amazingly, mosquitoes are rare in the area.

Sample Sea Kayaking Itinerary - 4-day trip

Sea Kayaking Khao Sok National Park Day 1

sea kayakers sea kayaking in thailandWe pick our guests up from their hotel, Phuket International Airport or Surat Thani Airport and transfer them to the dam at Khao Sok National Park reservoir. The drive from Phuket takes about two and a half hours. It's about an hour's drive from Surath Thani to the dam. Once at the dam, we'll board a motorboat to transfer to the bungalows. The motorboat ride takes about forty-five minutes. The scenery along the way is very dramatic, with towering limestone karst cliffs and thick tropical jungle. Khao Sok has the tallest limestone karst formations in all of Thailand.
We'll check into the bungalows, then get setup for our first paddling excursion. First, we'll instruct our guests on basic paddling technique. Our first destination is part of the peninsula on which the bungalows are located. This will prove that we don't have to go far to see wildlife. You will see Dusky Langurs and a variety of exotic birds. You will likely see some hornbills, gibbons and macaque monkeys.

Sea Kayaking Khao Sok National Park Day 2

sea kayakingEarly in the morning, we'll head out to do some birdwatching and wildlife sighting. Gibbons make their weird and wonderful calls early in the morning. It is nature's alarm clock. After a couple of hours on the water, we'll head back for breakfast and an optional nap. Further paddling instructions follow. An optional midday paddle is offered to guests. Even if it's a bit hot, many animals are still active. Dusky Langurs seem to be out all the time. Just being on the serene reservoir is reward enough. The sounds of the jungle will sooth your mind and warm your body. In the afternoon, we'll head out for another wildlife viewing trip. Watching monkeys frolicking in the jungle canopy is entertaining to say the least. They often make fantastic leaps from tree to tree. Langurs are the most impressive at this. They appear to be fearless making unbelievable jumps even when they have babies clinging to their bellies.

Sea Kayaking Khao Sok National Park Day 3

sea kayakingAgain, we'll do an early morning birdwatching and wildlife-sighting paddle. After breakfast, we'll trek to a remote part of the national park. The trails meander through thick old-growth jungle. On either side, massive limestone cliffs cradle the valley. It's safe, easy and unforgettable. In the afternoon, we'll do another nature paddle to a completely different part of the reservoir.

Sea Kayaking Khao Sok National Park Day 4

Normally, we sleep in a bit, and then have breakfast. After breakfast, we'll board the longtail motorboat (kayaks in tow) and head to the tallest limestone cliffs in the park. We'll start paddling in the direction of the dam. Along the way, there's a cave we can visit. There is also an opportunity for you to swim through an underwater cave. This is safe and easy. If this sort of thing isn't your 'cup of tea', you certainly don't have to do it.
The motorboat will leave the bungalows at 3:00 PM to find us. We'll board the boat and head back to the dam.
Alternatively, we'll not visit the cliff area. Instead, we'll paddle to a different part of the park.
Note: Our three-day packages do not usually include the trek. However, as our goal is to give trip participants exactly what they would like, we will trek if asked. Insurance is included in this trip as well.

Important notes for our Sea Kayaking progams.

Naturally we respect Thai and Lao cultural values. Remember, we will be going to areas that see few Western tourists. This means scantily dressed Westerners can easily offend the local people. It is particularly important that women realize in Muslim areas, it is very important not to appear in bikinis or other clothing that people of more traditional cultures would consider provocative or offensive. In other words, you won't be able to wear your bikini around the fishing villages. A pair of shorts and a shirt will do. Once on the water, you can do as you please
