From the Author
Parachuting/Skydiving is continuously growing & evolving.
Dan Poynter and I have attempted to bring to you, the reader (novice or experienced), the latest information available which covers many aspects of the sport. It is our hope that this book will be used by you as a tool to increase your learning about the sport. We have addressed several training and controversial issues openly and honestly, attempting to give full merit to both (or more) viewpoints when more than one right answer is available. This book is a "living document" and will continue to change as the sport changes and grows. Each successive issue (from the very first one that I used to study the sport over 21 years ago) has been written with that philosophy in mind; one of continuous improvement.
We hope you like the book, and if you can think of anything else to add, please feel free to contact one of us with your suggestions!
Blue, Clear, and Calm Skies to y'all.

BASE

Base 66: A Story of Fear, Fun, and...

base jumpSynopsis
BASE 66 is the true, nerve-wracking account of three young skydivers and their quest for membership in the most select extreme sports club on earth: The BASE club. In order to become a full-fledged member, Jevto Dedijer, Bernard Poirier, and Scott Elder had to parachute from the top of a building, an antenna tower, a bridge and a cliff, and survive to tell the story--a feat only some 800 adrenaline addicted people have succeeded in doing. In BASE 66, Jevto Dedijer tells the tale of his hunger for the ultimate adrenaline rush. He and his companions shared several near death experiences while traveling across Europe with their parachutes and beer in Bernard's dented Renault 4. They were pioneers in a sport so dangerous that several of their fellow BASE jumpers died in action. "BASE 66 is a fascinating story about life and death, terror and joy, and intimate friendship. It is an account of extraordinary people taking a step beyond the edge." Yuri Kuznetsov--BASE 416 "Everyone will enjoy reading Jevto's thrilling and humorous tale of his fascinating BASE odyssey and his discovery of a way of life that surpasses artificial boundaries and provides lifelong inspiration." Jean Boenish--BASE 3

Rock Climbing: Essential Skills &...

climbing The official instructional guide for rock climbers. A reference tool for those who wish to climb, instruct, coach and lead.

Libby Peters has produced an excellent book to cover everything from the basics to advanced techniques. The illustrations are clear and linked to the appropriate text, the photographs are good quality and cover a variety of areas throughout the UK. A minor gripe is that the book seems poorly indexed, however despite this niggle I'm happy to recommend the book unreservedly to my clients. The book makes me want to go and climb which surely is the best endorsement.

Windsurfing: The Complete Guide

I chose this book because I had already read Touching Cloudbase (A book on paragliding by the same author) and found it excellent.
I was not disapointed, this is very comprehensive and answered all the questions I had, not only about improving my sailing but about buying stuff, setting up your gear etc. which is well worth the cover price alone. Great Pictures and illustrations too.
Written in a very easy untechnical style, and well suited to the beginner and to someone like me trying to improve. Not much good to experienced windsurfers or competitors though. Recommended

ultimate muay thaiUltimate Muay Thai

by Bob Spour

Synopsis
This book, written by an acknowledged expert on this fascinating fighting art, provides a detailed analysis of the techniques of Muay Thai [Thai Kick Boxing] and their application to street protection. Ultimate Muay Thai is aimed at those with an interest in the martial arts in general and those with a specific interest in Muay Thai whether they are beginners, intermediates or advance practitioners.

"As an experienced trainer in Muay Thai I'm always on the look out for a technically informative book for both me and my students. I have trained with the author of this book many years ago and it's good to see he has finally condensed his vast experience into the pages of this book for all to see. He has, unlike many books of this genre, included a very detailed chapter on clinchwork as well as the basics of footwork as taught in Thailand. The section on rituals particularly appealed and I was not dissapointed. This is not a westerners interpretation of the art. Bob shows just how it's done, as it is done in Thailand. An excellent book for beginner and advanced alike. Well worth the price."
