Kitesurfing or Kiteboarding is taking the World by storm. One of the fastest growing sports is now available to you! Our Kitesurfing Center is located on safe shores of a kiteboarder's dream. Clean, Consistent winds and, flat, warm waters make this South Africa's premier kitesurfing destination and the site of South Africa's leading kitesurfing school.

The lagoon offers a perfect location to learn this sport and with Qualified Instructors, Naish & Takoon Kitesurfing equipment, warm safe waters and constant winds, where else would you want to go! Packaged together with the largest windsurfing & kitesurfing rental station in the Southern Hemisphere, a fully stocked retail shop and first class accommodation, no other place in SA can compare.

The town it's self is home to some very original South African gems, Die Strandloper, Froggies, Pearly's on The Beach and of course "Eve's Footprint!" Eve's Footprint was discovered on the entrance to the Lagoon and is one of the earliest proof of modern man's or woman's existence on this planet! Over 170,000 years old, this fossil shows how people have been coming to this town for a lot longer than we thought! Even pair of bindings were found close by, so perhaps she was a wakeboarder!

There are a lot of activities around and about Langebaan and it is pretty hard to not enjoy yourself whilst here. Golf Courses, a National Park, a Casino at Club Mykonos, Horseback rides, Helicopter rides, Fishing, bird watching, whale watching, paint ball, windsurfing, kitesurfing, surfing, partying, sea kayaking, and of course a Saturday night and the world famous "Flamingos" night club!

BKSA, IKO, Wipika & RYA Trained Instructors are used at our Sports Center. From Level 1 windsurfing through to advanced, our instructors are here for you to abuse! Kitesurfing for beginners through to full on 2 Line Wake Style instruction is available during the seasonal months of October through March!
All the staff at the Center have years of experience in the watersports industry. Whatever your needs, any one of them will be able to help!

We are situated in the heart of the West coast of Southern Africa. Langebaan is our town and is situated on the edge of the West Coast National Park. Cape Town International Airport is an easy hour and a half's drive from Langebaan.

IKO Level 1 Part 1 (IKO A-D)
Course content will include:
• Equipment handling safety & maintenance.
• Determining wind direction, Wind Window or Power Zone.
• Pre-Flight safety checks including line & bar set-up.
• Assisted launch & landing skills.
• Kite flying, safety systems and harnesses.
All land based. Max 4 students.

IKO Level 1 Part 2 (IKO E-F)
Course content will include:
• Self launching and Landing.
• Piloting in the power zone.
• Body dragging (un-harnessed.)
• Untwisting the lines.
• Harnessed body dragging.
• Safety systems usage and equipment recovery.
• One-handed body dragging.
• Wind awareness and dangers.
• 4 line set-up and theory of chicken loops and de-powering systems.
Max 2 students.

IKO Level 2 (IKO F-I)
Course content will include:
• Body dragging upwind and back to shore.
• Space Awareness.
• One handed piloting.
• Board work, recovery & footstrap work.
• Generating a steady pull in starting position.
• Water starts & leash work.
• Your First Ride!
Max 2 students.

IKO Beginner 4 Line Kites
Course content will include:
• In depth 4-line set-up and adjustments.
• The use of power adjusting strap.
• Water re-launching and body dragging skills.
• 4 line board riding.
Max 2 students.

IKO Level 3 Part 1 (IKO J-N)
Course content will include:
• Priority rules. Generating steady pull from the kites whilst riding.
• Change of direction. Holding your edge.
• Upwind riding.
• Board recovery without a leash.
• Switch of direction or jibing a directional.
• First jumps.
Using your own equipment. Max 1 student.

IKO Level 3 Part 2 (IKO J-N)
Course content will include:
• Priority rules. Generating steady pull from the kites whilst riding.
• Change of direction. Holding your edge.
• Upwind riding.
• Board recovery without a leash.
• Switch of direction or jibing a directional.
• First jumps.
Rented equipment is included for this course. Max 1 student.

IKO Level 1-3 Qualifications
If you are already riding, staying up wind or jumping, come take the test and get your IKO Board rider’s card, the first step to becoming an Instructor.

IKO Instructor Course
You want to be an IKO Instructor? You need to be a level 3 rider first and then you can take the course.

GENERAL CONDITIONS
You must be able to swim and be comfortable in the water.

REFUNDS
In case of adverse weather conditions, we will change the kite surfing lesson schedule to another date.
If this is not possible then the guests will receive a full refund of the prepaid missed lessons and a credit for any deposit also.

PRE-BOOKING
We recommend you to pre-book as soon as you can.
We will ask you for a 10% deposit when booking.
The balance of the fees need to be paid one month prior to arrival at our school.

All Extreme Sports Cafe Kitesurfing courses follow the IKO (International Kitesurfing Organisation) assessment system. Our kitesurfing instructors are IKO qualified and at the end of each kitesurfing course students will receive an IKO card with their achieved level. All the necessary equipment is provided for students (excluding food and drinks) and the kitesurfing courses last between 4 and 5 hours per day depending on the wind conditions. Kitesurifng students are advised to wear a hat and apply sun-cream as they will be spending a lot of time in the sun. Kitesurfing students must be 16 years or older, although we can teach children under 16 with their parent’s permission and presence.
