Extreme Sports Café’s partner New Zealand Kitesurfing
School is located on Auckland's North Shore a short ferry ride from
Auckland and overlooking the beautiful and tranquil Shoal Bay. Due
to its safe location and the regular SW winds blowing into it, this
is probably the best spot to learn kitesurfing. There is regular
hassle free ferry transport to and from the city allowing you to
relax and enjoy the harbour cruise as you prepare to learn all about
kitesurfing.
Auckland’s
amazing geography and warm, humid climate has inspired a lifestyle
that’s regularly ranked in the world’s top ten. In just
half an hour you can be far away in the wilderness or the countryside
- sailing to an island, trekking through the rainforest, picnicking
on a volcano, sampling wines at a vineyard or wandering a wild,
black-sand surf beach. Auckland’s layout makes it easy to
jump quickly from one spot to another.
Extreme
Sports Café’s partner New Zealand Kitesurfing School
have 2 of the best locations for kitesurfing right next to the school,
covering SW, SE and NE directions. These are shallow water beaches/bays,
which are great and safe for learning kitesurfing in.
If we are unable to cover any components of the course due to lack
of wind then our school will reschedule the course with yourselves
for another convenient time to complete any outstanding components.

Kitesurfing
- With a couple of lessons to help you get started, you soon get
to the stage where you can get up on the board and sail away. It
will take you some more practice to manage jumps and tricks. Any
previous experience surfing, windsurfing, kiting, paragliding or
sailing will help a lot but is not required. Kitesurfing is reasonably
physical, so the fitter you are, the easier it is.
Courses
with Extreme Sports Cafe are the complete deal from providing your
kit, to re-booking if the wind's no good and of course that all
important insurance cover. Tuition is usually based around the local
tides to ensure you have shallow flat water to learn in.

School runs kitesurfing lessons from September till June.
We
don't stop kitesurfing though! Please contact
us for other locations when this area of the world is out of
season for kitesurfing.

Kitesurfing
Introduction and Taster Session. 
This half day Kitesurfing Introduction introduces
you to all aspects of kitesurfing and will help you make
a decision as to whether you want to get into the sport.
The kitesurfing lesson will be one-on-one or a maximum of
2, so that we can tailor the lesson to your ability, expectations
and fitness.
We start with safety instructions, a kitesurfing intro video
and how to set up your kitesurfing equipment. Then we move
onto kite skills, with ground kite-handling practice, then
into the water, followed by some body dragging, and finally
board skills.
You will spend 2-3 hours in the water depending on the conditions
and your fitness. This kitesurfing lesson can also be used
as coaching to brush up on any current skills you may have,
to help you advance your level further.

2-Day
Kitesurfing Course
This 2-day course is 2 half-day sessions of kitesurfing
tuition. The kitesurfing lesson will be one-on-one or a
maximum of 2, so that we can tailor the lesson to your ability,
expectations and fitness.
This
lesson can be used as a full introduction to kitesurfing
or to brush up on any current skills you may have, to help
you advance your level further.
The lesson is aimed at equipping you with all the essential
kitesurfing skills and knowledge to be able to let you practice
by yourself afterwards, effectively and safely.

hour IKO Level 2 Intermediate Kitesurfing Course*
By
the end of the intermediate kitesurfing program you will get
up on the board for your first ride. During the course you
will improve your kite piloting with power, one hand kite
piloting, body dragging unhooked and hooked to your harness.
Entry
Level - IKO Level 1 kitesurfing or equivalent skill
level

Get your level certified up to IKO Level 2 with the IKO Kiteboarder
Card.
• Ability to rent equipment and practice under supervision
at any IKO school or hire centre. |
| Twelve
hour IKO Level 3 Independant Kitesurfing
Course*
You will be able to ride upwind and attempt your first jump.
In this program you will learn how to manage your practice
area and choose your own equipment. Your kite flying skills
will have improved and you will learn how to control your
direction and power and return to your starting point. You
will be able to fly more powerful kites and use a twin tip,
mutant or a smaller directional board.
Entry
level - IKO Level 2 or equivalent skill.
Achievement

• Get your level certified up to IKO Level 3 with the
IKO Kiteboarder Card
• Become an independent kitesurfer.
• Buy your own equipment, in the knowledge that you
have the ability to use it safely without injuring yourself
or others.
• Access to advanced clinic program.
• With time on the water and experience you can become
an assistant instructor and then onto IKO instructorship. |

Kitesurfing Tuition:
Private
lessons are available to those who want to learn on a one
on one basis. The course contents will be identical to the
IKO courses outlined above. IKO qualifications will be given
at the end of the course allowing the usual IKO cardholder
benefits.
If
you have mastered the basics, and want to progress we can
also offers an advanced clinic. You can learn anything from,
backloops and wave riding to kiteloops and handle passes,
let us help you take your riding to the next level.
With
all our courses we can provide video analysis for your course,
giving you valuable feed back on your performance and progression.
We can arrange to put this onto VCD as a souvenir of your
kiteboarding experience.
Please
book as many hours as you feel you might need in advance,
as we get very busy in the kitesurfing season and may not
be able to extend your booking if you don't let us know how
much you require in advance. |

New Zealand- Auckland's North Shore |

The North Shore is ideal for tourists and visitors, even those
without cars. The ferry takes people from downtown straight
to our kitesurfing base in a few minutes.
• North Shore City is only 30 minutes drive from Auckland
International Airport, which is a three and a half hour flight
from Sydney, a non-stop overnight flight from the United States,
and around 10 hours flight from most places on the Pacific
Rim, like Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo.
• New Zealand's unit of currency is the New Zealand
dollar (NZ$). Foreign currency can easily be exchanged at
most banks and some hotels in North Shore City. All major
credit cards can be used in New Zealand and travelers' cheque’s
are accepted at hotels, banks and some stores. In general,
banks are open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, although
some banks are open in weekends. Automated Teller Machines
(ATMs) are widely available at banks, along main shopping
streets and in some petrol stations.
• The cafe scene is varied and exciting in North Shore
City and quality restaurants are plentiful. Dining out is
a pleasure with a wide variety of choices to tempt the most
discerning palates. The cuisine on offer is truly international
- Turkish to traditional Kiwi, using the best of local produce
complemented by the nation's finest wines. After dinner, continue
the evening with a visit to one of the numerous wine bars,
pubs and nightclubs in the city.

Notes:
• All prices are in New Zealand dollars and include GST.

Kitesurfing lessons are usually one-on-one or maximum 2 people per
instructors, so that the courses are rather intense and always customized
to the student.
•
The kitesurfing School will supply all the kit needed for lessons
and uses Naish equipment - the board, different kites to suit the
conditions, the harness and your instructor.
•
Bring your own wet suit and booties (let us know if don't have any
- we have some for rent at $10).
GENERAL
CONDITIONS
You must be able to swim and be comfortable in the water.
REFUNDS
In case of adverse weather conditions, we will change the kite surfing
lesson schedule to another date.
If this is not possible then the guests will receive a full refund
of the prepaid missed lessons and a credit for any deposit also.
PRE-BOOKING
We recommend you to pre-book as soon as you can.
We will ask you for a deposit when booking.
The balance of the fees need to be paid normally one month prior
to arrival at our school.
