You

training course (ITC),
hold valid
first aid and powerboat certificates and complete a
post ITC logged teaching programme (min 20 hrs) before you can be approved
as a qualified instructor and hold your own insurance
to teach.
On
arrival at the course you must ensure that you meet the
pre qualification criteria, you will
not
be allowed
to proceed with the course if you do not,
nor are there any course refunds. On completion of the seven-day course
you will
have covered all elements required to become a qualified instructor.
If you are weak in any area you will be referred
on this
area only, to give you
more time
to train at this skill. On successful completion of the ITC you will
be asked to complete a logged teaching period and
address
any referred areas. After
the logged hours you will be qualified as a level 1 instructor.
This
process is all conducted and qualified within the UK,
in accordance to the training partnership between the IKO
and BKSA. The qualification
route has changed
as of 2004 and it is at level 1 that you will now be recognised by
insurers and be able to obtain your insurance. This qualification
is
awarded as
a IKO/BKSA
certification.
To
move to level 2 you must then complete 40 student feedback
forms and return these direct to the IKO, who
will send you a further exam
paper
to pass for
your level 2. This level then qualifies you as experienced senior
instructor. (This
does not affect candidates prior to 2004 taking their ITC prior
to 2004).
