The location of Extreme Sports Café’s newest partner Kiteboarding Centre lets you experience kiteboarding at it's best, the center is located directly on the beach with the launching area right in front of you. Just pump your kite with our compressor and hit the water. If you need to rent gear, you will find high quality equipment in our racks. When you need a break our beach bar serves light snacks and a variety of drinks. At night you can store your gear in our racks and head off in to Hurghada to check out the nightlife.
Extreme Sports Café’s partner Kiteboarding Centre opened in June 1, 2002 in Hurghada and are an IKO Kiteboarding Center and all their courses are done according to IKO standards, leading to IKO certification. New beginner courses are run 3 times a week and IKO Instructor Training Courses (ITC) twice yearly. The instructors are IKO certified and speak English, French, Swedish and Finnish.

The Kitesurfing training area is located at the upwind (northern) Magawish Bay. Here the water is shallow quite far out and the bay has a huge downwind area, perfect for courses and practice. For those of you that have been here before you’ll be glad to hear that we have cleaned up the training bay to make it safer for you. Over 1200 man-hours have been spent in removing hazards from the water and to clean up the beach. Now the place looks even better and the risk of damaging equipment is minimal.

This is the best spot in the area for kiteboarding. You can use the compressor to pump your kite and launch just outside the Kiteboarding Center, where there is a closed off sandy area for launching and landing where swimmers are not allowed. Then it's an easy ride, slightly upwind to the sand bar, where you can play in the flat water and even jump the sandbar when the tide is a bit higher.
In the channel between the sand bar and the beach, most of the Hurghada dive and excursion boats are passing by, it's very popular for experienced riders to jump behind them earning them big cheers from the people onboard.
(They are always careful, and don't jump in front of them!)

Sunny and Windy is how the weather can be described in Hurghada. The temperature ranges from 23°C during the winter to 38 degrees in July when in the hottest period. The water temperature is nice throughout the year with 22°C as the coldest and up to 28°C in the summer. Leave your rain clothes at home; you will have no use for them. Rain in this area is very rare but it might rain for a few minutes one or two times per year or so...

The wind in the Red Sea is created by the difference in temperature between the land and sea and blows all year around averaging from Force 4-7Bft. (75 % of the days). In Hurghada this is accelerated by the mountain formations along the Red Sea and a bit more by Giftun Island offshore. It will generally pick up during the day and can often start early and sometimes blow all day. At Magawish the wind normally blows slightly side off shore in the morning with a change to side shore at noon.

IKO Kiteboarder Level I – Novice 1 - 2 days €210

In this 6-hour first part of the full Kitesurfing beginner course you will be taught all about safety and how important that is to the sport. Further more we will take you through kitesurfing equipment set up, launching and landing, and finally piloting the kite in the air. Most of the time you will be using 2 line kites and when time allows, we will introduce 4 line kites.

IKO iteboarder Level II – Novice 2 - 2 days €210

The level II Kiteboarding course completes the full Kitesurfing beginner course. In this 6-hour kitesurfing course you will learn kite piloting with power, one-handed kite piloting, body dragging unhooked and hooked in to your harness.
Once you’ve mastered the kite handling it is time for the board, now you will learn how to manage the board and the kite at the same time. Finally you will learn the waterstart and getting up on that board.

 

IKO Kiteboarder Level III – Independent - 2 days €210

During this 6-hour kitesurfing course you will learn how to manage your practical area, and will be able to choose your equipment. You will ride with more powerful kites and will learn the basics of edge control and upwind riding. Receive advice and tips from your instructor to control your direction and power. According to what you want, discover how to ride Twin Tips, Wakeboards or jibing a directional or Mutant board. In this kitesurfing course we are also giving you the theory behind jumping so that you can try your first jumps on your own as well.

 

2hrs Private Kiteboarding Lessons or Advanced Trick Studies €130

These Kitesurfing lessons are 2-hour lessons and what we teach is up to you, New tricks or tips on nailing that maneuver. If you want to work on a specific trick or move, your instructor will help you achieve your goal.

 

IKO Instructor Training Course 5-Days $630US

IKO Instructor Training Courses (ITC) are run twice yearly. The instructors are IKO certified and speak English, French, Swedish and Finnish.

The Kitesurfing Spot

 

The Kitesurfing Spot - Being located on the grounds of a Hotel Extreme Sports Café’s partner Egyptian Kiteboarding Centre have the best beach in the area for kitesurfing. Huge shallow areas for training, dedicated launch areas and a nice sand bank off shore.
The Kiteboarding Center is equipped with the latest equipment from Naish, Underground and X-Shooter. There is a wide range of kitesurfing equipment, from pure beginner equipment to the most advanced gear available on the market.
All courses are conducted in the upwind training bay where the lagoon is knee to chest deep and the large area allows you long runs before getting into too deep water. As you progress you can blast out to the sand bar 300 meters off shore, walk upwind if needed, and come back in again.

Supervised Kiteboarding - own kit €25per hour / School Kit €40 per hour

For the Kiteboarder that is not 100% sure of his/her own abilities but does not want to do a course we offer supervised kiting. This is perfect to do for one or two hours, an instructor will be with you to help you out if needed and soon you will feel confident enough to go on your own.

Before rental is confirmed all riders must prove their level of competency. This system is employed to cover the safety of the client as well as for the satisfaction of the Kiteboarding Centre that the client is capable of handling the kiteboarding equipment.

Kites and Boards - In the racks we have a variety of equipment, both for school use and rental. We use Naish kites from beginner to advanced, in sizes from 1.3 to 20 metres. The board racks are packed with the latest boards from Naish and Nobile in a variety of shapes and sizes to suit all levels. In total have we about 90 kites and 50 boards.

Other facilities that are available at Extreme Sport Café’s Egyptian Kiteboarding Centre are compressed air for easy pumping of kites, rescue boat, kitesurfing equipment cleaning and storage, kite repair service and a workshop with necessary tools and spare parts. Kiteboarding safely and easily - Hurghada, The Red Sea

• All Kiteboarders must show safe kite handling skills and good judgement before kitting on their own.
• Students participating in any course activity are liabilities insured and limited equip ment insured.
• All Kiteboarding equipment is included in the course price. Helmet and life jacket will be supplied for all courses and are mandatory.

All of our kitesurfing courses in Egypt can be booked online.

All extreme sports cafe kitesurfing courses in the caribbean follow the IKO (International Kitesurfing Organisation) assessment system. Our instructors are IKO qualified and at the end of each course students will receive an IKO card with their achieved level. All the necessary equipment is provided for students (excluding food and drinks) and the courses last between 4 and 5 hours per day depending on the wind conditions. Students are advised to wear a hat and apply sun-cream as they will be spending a lot of time in the sun. Students must be 16 years or older, although we can teach children under 16 with their parent’s permission and presence.
