All Extreme Sports Cafe Kitesurfing / Kiteboarding courses follow the IKO (International Kitesurfing Organisation) assessment system. Our kitesurf instructors are IKO qualified and at the end of each course students will receive a kitesurfing IKO card with their achieved level. All the necessary kitesurfing equipment is provided for students (excluding food and drinks) and the kitesurf courses last between 4 and 5 hours per day depending on the wind conditions. Students are advised to wear a hat and apply sun-cream as they will be spending a lot of time in the sun. Students must be 16 years or older, although we can teach children under 16 to kitesurf, with their parent’s permission and presence.

Extreme Sports Café can now offer the ever popular and constantly growing extreme sport of Kitesurfing in another tropical paradise location, near Rio de Jeneiro in Brazil.

Our new school is the only IKO centre in Brazil. Our Kitesurfing School is located in the Pousada Amendoeira, 110km Rio de Janeiro, in the famous city of Araruama.

Araruama city is very calm. It has restaurants, which satisfy every taste, cyber cafés, shops etc. You can easily go from the club downtown by microbuses and “van” which come and go all day around the city. We also offer car rental and accommodation.

There are many climate factors, such as El Nino, which changed a lot the climate of South America.

It was observed that since 2001, there is a non-defined season for wind. Araruama’s Lake offers winds during all year, so, we are opening everyday. All our Kite spots are with 30minute drive of each other.

The region where we are is a lake region. Our kitesurfing school locations are situated in Araruama, Busios and Cabo Frio. You can reach one from another in 30 mintues by car. But each of them is unique because of different kitespots we teach at.

Kitesurfing Courses with Extreme Sports Cafe in Brazil

Our Kitesurfing lessons generally start between 10 and 11 am. Each kitesurfing lesson has 1 or 2 students per instructor with one rescue boat. Kitesurfing Course prices includes all necessary equipment for lessons, transportation to the kitespots, rescue boat, help on setup, launch and land. Discover Kitesurfing IKO Level 1 1-Day / 3 Hours 240Reais The best way to discover kiteboarding! By the end of this program, you will be ready to move to the next step: getting up on the board! Basic Kitesurfing Course IKO Level 2 2-Days /6 Hours 480Reais By the end of the basic kitesurfing program, you will get up on the board for your first ride. During the course, you will improve kite piloting with power, one hand kite piloting, body dragging unhooked and hooked in to your harness. You should be kiteboarder level 1 or equivalent skill level to do this course. *Fast Track Option - Basic Course (Intensive) IKO Level 2 1-Day/4 Hours 380Reais Intermediate Kitesurfing Course 3-4 Days 3 Hours per day 960Reais You may need several days to accomplish this course it depends on your abilities and skills. You will be able to ride upwind and do your first jump! During this program, you will learn how to manage your practice area and to choose your equipment. Your kite flying skills will be improved and you will learn how to control your direction and power, and come back to your starting point. You should be kiteboarder level 2 or equivalent skill level to do this course. Advanced Course 4 Hours per day 360Reais This is for learning or improving on, all those tricks and jumps. You should be kiteboarder level 3 or equivalent skill level to do this course. IKO ITC (Instructor Training course) 8 Hours per day 1400Reais This is a course for people who want to start pro career for Kitesurfing IKO. This course lasts 5 days doing 8 hrs per day. You have to be at least IKO level 3 to do this course.
