Nassau, the bustling hub of The Bahamas now and since the shipwrecking days of the legendary pirate Blackbeard. Prized for its sheltered harbour, the city made history and preserved it beautifully in Victorian mansions, cathedrals, 18th-century fortresses and a Queen's Staircase whose 66 steps lead to a view not to be missed.

The Bahamas is an ideal destination for year-round kiteboarding, with average temps of 70 degrees in winter and 82 in summer, and water temps reaching the low 80's in the summer and 70's in winter.

Wintertime in Nassau brings strong NNE winds ranging from 12-15 knots and increasing to 25-30 knots during cold fronts. In the summertime the winds shift to SSE with speeds dropping to about 10-12 knots but with a general increase in the afternoons 15kts.

There is no better way to experience the beauty of the Bahamas than kiteboarding. Glide across pristine flats…lean back and let your fingers skim the warm waters or feel the excitement as you land your first big air. All kiteboarders agree that it is an exhilarating and addictive sport.

There are a number of different spots that Extreme Sports Café’s Nassau Kitesurfing Center use, we kite at and around the island so what ever the wind direction there is always a spot we can take you to. It takes just 1 1⁄2 hours to drive round the whole island so you are never too far from a new beach and it also means you never have to kite at the same spot twice. All the beaches we kite at have shallow water and sandy bottoms. One particular beach stays shallow for 6 miles out.

Extreme Sports Café’s Bahamas kitesurfing centre has qualified PASA instructors (Professional Air Sports Association) ready to help you take full advantage of all that the Bahamas has to offer. All our kites are filled with a converted air tank and set up for you by the instructor or instructor's helpers (this makes it very hard to go home and have to pump up the kites yourself!!).

Beginner Kitesurfing Courses

1-Day Beginner kitesurfing Course - $300US
Includes 4 hours of one to one Kitesurfing instruction, use of the schools 2006 Cabrinha equipment. Jetski support, pick up and drop off from hotel to and from beach, and free t-shirt.

2-Day Beginner Kitesurfing Course - $500US
Includes 4 hours of one to one Kitesurfing instruction on the first day and semi private on the second day. Jetski support, pick up and drop off from hotel to and from beach, and free t-shirt.

5-Day Beginner Kitesurfing Course - $999US
Includes 2 days of one to one Kitesurfing instruction followed by 3 days of assisted riding and instruction. Jetski support, pick up and drop off from hotel to and from beach, and free t-shirt.

Intermediate Kitesurfing Courses

Improve your kitesurfing board riding - Pumping you full of Kitesurfing knowledge, safety and skills... Intermediates must be able to ride in both directions and stay upwind.

2-Day Intermediate Kitesurfing Course* - $400US
Kitesurfing assisted riding and instruction. Jetski support, pick up and drop off from hotel to and from beach, and free t-shirt.

5-Day Intermediate Kitesurfing Course* - $800US
Kitesurfing assisted riding and instruction. Jetski support, pick up and drop off from hotel to and from beach, and free t-shirt.

Private kitesurfing lesson 4hrs - $350US per lesson
Kitesurfing assisted riding and instruction. Jetski support, pick up and drop off from hotel to and from beach, and free t-shirt.

Pick up drop off, use of school kitesurfing gear. (Cabrinha bow kites) All drinks and snacks included.

*For intermediate kitesufers we require that you can fly a kite, get up on the board and stay up wind.

Advanced Kitesurfing Lessons

Advanced Kitesurfing Caddy Service - $100US per day
Kitesurfing caddy service for all advanced riders to the best Kitesurfing spots for the day.

We fill and set up your kites, launch them and are there to catch the kites when they come back in.

We also supply you with a ride to and back from the riding spots of the day (drinks and snacks are included)

Using your own kitesurfing equipment and with no instruction.

Private kitesurfing lesson 4hrs - $350US per lesson

Learn new Kitesurfing tricks or tweak your old ones.

Semi Private Kitesurfing Lesson - $200US per lesson

Important notes for Kitesurfing Bahamas with Extreme Sports Cafe.

Please Note:
• Intermediate Kitesufers must be able to ride in both directions and stay upwind.
• If you state the wrong level of kitesurfing experience we reserve the right to charge you accordingly. For example if you state you are an intermediate and can stay up wind but the instructor spends all day chasing you because you do not have the skill to return to the same spot the rate will be adjusted.
• Our days generally run from either 9am to 1pm or 1pm to 5 pm. These times are subject to variation according to wind or other factors.
• If the Kitesurfing course that you choose falls on a weekend there will be an extra $50 per day (sat sun) charge.
• In the event of no wind you will not be charged or you have the option to go out on the boat for other activities in which case you will be charged.
• No Wind Days: Snorkelling, Wake Boarding, Lobstering, Spear Fishing, Kayaking.

All extreme sports cafe kitesurfing courses in the caribbean follow the IKO (International Kitesurfing Organisation) assessment system. Our instructors are IKO qualified and at the end of each course students will receive an IKO card with their achieved level. All the necessary equipment is provided for students (excluding food and drinks) and the courses last between 4 and 5 hours per day depending on the wind conditions. Students are advised to wear a hat and apply sun-cream as they will be spending a lot of time in the sun. Students must be 16 years or older, although we can teach children under 16 with their parent’s permission and presence.
