We like to say there is no real bad time to visit Fiji. The off season months of April-June and Sept-Nov provide great off season winds as the trade winds are not as strong. Experience 10-20 knots during the off-season and 15-30 knots during the trade Season. The June/July/August period is windy with consistent warm southeast cross-shore trade winds. Our 2011 weekly windsurfing group season commences in April and concludes in January 2012, maximising our Windsurfing program to coincide with the fantastic S.E. Trade Wind season from April - January.

Fiji Windsurfing Holiday Instruction
For all 2011 packages we offer optional Instruction in the afternoon. Instruction is from 2pm to 6pm Sunday - Friday, Saturday is changeover day and non-instructional. Hourly private instruction is also available in the mornings.

We promote our Fiji Windsurfing courses as "everything in a week” so we teach you as much as you need to get you to a certain level in a week or longer if you stay for more than one week...
Windsurfing Level 1- Learn to Windsurf
This windsurfing course is for complete beginners. You will learn about the basics of wind surfing and also about using the right equipment.
- Windsurfing Course Content: Carrying and launching the board and rig separately and coming ashore. Sailing across the wind; up wind and down wind; power control; steering; sailing a triangular course. Basic tacking, gibing and theory.
- Ability After Course: You will be able to sail to a chosen point on the water and return to where you started from in light winds.
Windsurfing Level 2 - Improving Techniques
After Level 1, fine tuning your basic skills to make your wind surfing faster and more fluid. New techniques like the beach-start and introduction to the harness. You will then be geared up and ready for the excitement of higher winds covered in level 3. For Level 2 you should be able to sail on all points of sailing in light winds. (Level 1)
- Windsurfing Course Content: Introduction to beach start. Improving stance on all points of sailing, basic harness technique, using the centerboard. Improved tacking and gybing. Theory.
- Ability After Course: Beach-start. Sail on all points of sailing in stronger winds. Faster tacking and gybing.
Windsurfing Level 3 - Introduction to Planing
This is where the harness and footstrap techniques, combined with improved stance will get the board planing and give you the exhilaration of speed. Faster tacking and more dynamic gybes complete the package. For Level 3 you should be a Competent level 2 sailor.
- Windsurfing Course Content: Beach-starting in a variety of conditions, harness, line adjustment, using the training straps, planning, stance. More advanced tacking and gybing in stronger winds. Self rescue, towing another sailor and theory.
- Ability After Course: Be able to sail comfortably in footstraps and harness in planing conditions.
Windsurfing Level 4 - Planing Techniques
Water-starts and carve gybes. The next step towards carve gybing is what you'll be learning - carving into the turn but coming out non-planing. Learning to tack shorter boards will keep your options open. For Level 4 you should be able to sail comfortably in the footstraps and harness in planing conditions. (Level 3)
- Windsurfing Course Content: Water-starting, tackling shorter boards, carve gibing and planing techniques.
- Ability After Course: Improved stance and early planing, be able to tack a shortboard and carve the board into a gybe in planing conditions.
Windsurfing Level 5 - Advanced Planing Techniques
Once you've mastered the strap to strap carve gybe, more advanced gybing such as the duck and slam gybe can be tackled. Introduction to wave sailing, launching, recovery, jumping and landing which leads to the cutting edge of wind surfing. For Level 5 you should be able to carve into a gybe but not necessarily exit planing but waterstart confidently. Want to learn some posing maneuvers!
- Windsurfing Course Content: Beach-starting in waves, clew first and light wind water-start, jumping and wave riding, shortboard carve gybe, slam gybe, duck gybe, slalom gybe, tacking shorter boards, Tuning; Advanced theory.
