Extreme Sports Cafe's partner UK Paragliding School are the UK experts in paragliding lessons and full paragliding courses. Our partner UK Paragliding School, specialise in  beginners and provide BHPC structured courses. The Paragliding School is based at a 17th Century Yorkshire farm with most of the training on hills within easy commuter distance from Leeds or Manchester. Learn to fly a paraglider or why not try a tandem flight with the team run by a British Champion Tandem pilot all in the UK.

Normally students meet at 10.30am and after a brief theory session, you will be on the hill learning how to control the paraglider, initially on the ground. Once you can manage this you will attempt to make your first flights on gentle nursery slopes and will be no higher then a set of kitchen steps. As your skill and confidence increases, you will progress higher up the hill to make longer, higher flights. At this stage we will use two-way radios to guide you safely through the air. Soon you will be soaring like a bird, airborne for hours! Where appropriate Dual Control Paragliders may be used.  On completion of your CP course you will be invited to register with the Club and the British Hang Gliding & Paragliding Council, so that you can take advantage of annual insurance cover and many other benefits.

UK Paragliding Tandem Flights and UK Paragliding Taster courses

UK Paragliding Yorkshire Tandem Flight £129
Approximately 15 minutes soaring with the British Champion Tandem Pilot and Instructor. An ideal present! Tandem flights are taken on a two man Paraglider where the pilot does the flying for you. While you are airborne you can sit back, relax and enjoy the view. If conditions permit it may be possible for you to take the controls. The Tandem flight should be about 10 to 15 minutes depending on the conditions sometimes the wind may drop in which case a couple of flights may take place. Tandem vouchers make unique gifts for someone wishing an air experience. 

UK Paragliding Yorkshire 1-Day Taster £199
This 1 day course will cover Ground training and launch practice. Due to recent health and safety considerations we cannot guarantee you will be sufficiently competent to undertake low-level flights by the end of the first day. Our customer feedback strongly favours the two-day course where you are likely to get a lot of flying on your second day.  However if you are really fit and able you may take to the air at the end of the first day. 

UK Paragliding Yorkshire 2-Day Taster £299
If you want to try paragliding or you're looking for that extra special present, this is ideal. On day one, you will start with a briefing, introduction to equipment followed by simulator practice & flat ground training. This will involve starting, steering and stopping the paraglider, without your feet leaving the ground. Day two should see you in the air with some low level flights no more than a few feet above the ground. As your confidence and skill develops, you will move swiftly onto steeper slopes, where you will gain higher altitudes. You will be in control and will go no higher than you want to. By the end of two days students can be flying from as high as 400' although you may have more modest aspirations.

• After your paragliding experience/Taster, if you decide to book a full paragliding course or a package, you will get you a discount.  
• As with all our Yorkshire paragliding courses you may spread your days out or take them all together (subject to weather). 
• There is no rebooking charge for days postponed due to bad weather. 

UK Paragliding Yorkshire Learn to Paraglide Courses

UK Paragliding Elementary Pilot Course £535
This is a serious introduction to the sport of paragliding. By the end of this 4 day paragliding course you will have attained a basic level of competence, receive your EP Certificate, which marks the half way point in the basic training syllabus. You should achieve over 20 flights. This 4 day course can be taken as a block or more likely (with British weather), may be split up over weekends or weekday to suit you. By the end of the course you should be able to perform high flights up to 600' with 90 degree turns and stand up landings in a target area. You will sit a multiple choice examination. This qualifies you to go on to the BHPC Club Pilot course.  You will be expected to maintain a Flying Log book provided.

UK Paragliding Club Pilot Course £535
This is the follow on paragliding course (after the EP) run over 4 days. By the end of this course you should be able to soar above the hill several times, perform 180 degree turns, plus be trained in a number of advanced manoeuvres. You will be expected to study the Resource pack before starting this paragliding course and be familiar with the concept of stalls, ridge soaring, turn dynamics, landing approach procedure as well as a good knowledge of meteorology and relevant air law. Once you have passed all the tasks, you need not necessarily fly under the strict supervision of an instructor.

UK Paragliding Combo Beginner to Club Pilot £945
As it sounds - the complete paragliding course to solo standard. The Combo course is up to 8 days of training combining Elementary and Club Pilot courses, with the aim of making you a competent soaring pilot. This course can be taken at any time over 12 months, often at weekends.

• There is no personal accident cover. We recommend that you obtain personal accident cover. 
• As with all our paragliding courses you may spread your days out or take them all together (subject to weather). 
• There is no rebooking charge for days postponed due to bad weather. 
• Most days training will finish around 4pm, but we sometimes have to carry on training well into the evening, if the weather has held us up during the day. Please be prepared for this - obviously we can’t predict when it may happen.
• It will be of great help to you if you have done some preparatory studies. Those on more serious courses should purchase the Training Resource pack.
