Bright has it's own unique weather system which is world famous in the Paragliding community. Nestled on the northern side of the Great Dividing Range it consequently enjoys consistent weather that allows our partner paragliding school to give regular course completion unequalled in most places in the world.
- The first day of training normally consists of around 3 hours in the morning on a gentle training slope getting used to the equipment, learning to launch and land the glider.
- Then in the afternoon it's off to a suitable hill for your first high flights under radio supervision with 2 instructors. One instructor at the launch point and the other at the landing field.
- Depending on the conditions and the site used on the day, sometimes you could be flying a tandem glider with an instructor in the rear guiding you.
- An average training day consists of 4 to 8 flights from hills 900 to 1500 feet high.
- There is also a component of theory involved with paragliding licence courses. This is delivered in a powerpoint presentation which is all clearly explained by the instructors.

Tandem Paragliding Flight Experiences
An experience you'll not soon forget, try a tandem flight with an experienced instructor. Take off is from our Mystic Hill around 500metres above the town. The paraglider is launched by your instructor and within a few paces you find yourself lifted skyward with an unobstructed view of spectacular scenery. We are keen for you to participate and conditions permitting we will encourage you to fly the glider yourself.
- Mystic High Glide Tandem Flight $130.
- 500 metre high glide from Mystic. Flight time 10 minutes.
- Mystic Thermalling Tandem Flight $180.
- A cross country flight around the ovens valley. Flight time 1 hour plus.
- Cross Country Tandem Flight$250.
- An extended thermalling flight above Mystic and Bright. Flight time 30 minutes.
Tandem paragliding Flights require no previous experience and are available to all ages including the disabled.
2-Day Introductory Paragliding Course $500
This 2-day introduction paragliding course gives you an un-paralleled insight into flying a paraglider.
On the first morning you learn to launch and handle the paraglider on gentle slopes close to the ground. In the afternoon look forward to solo flights from low hills or a tandem instructional flight from Mystic up to 500 metres. The next day usually consists of further solo flying, either multiple flights from 300 metres or two major 500 metres high flights from Mystic. With good weather conditions you can often get more high flights from Mystic.
- Note after completion of this 2-day course the school give you a 1-day credit towards the paragliding license course if booked within 3 months.
9-Day Paragliding Licensed Course $1,800
This 9-Day Paragliding Licensed Course is a very intensive training course designed to coach you to license standard, certified by The H.G.F.A.
- On first morning you get used to the equipment and practice controlling the paraglider close to the ground. Expect bunny hops from a gentle slope. In the afternoon you'll go to a suitable site for your first major flights.
- Successive days consist of multiple high flights from launch sites suitable to the weather of the day. Expect around 30 flights, focusing initially on take off and landing skills. Once these skills are acquired you move on to ridge soaring and thermalling skills which, allow you to extend your flight times. Students typically reach heights of around 2,500 feet during these flights.
Theory: Combined with the flying is an element of theory. We take great effort to conduct the theory in a natural environment, discussing it as it occurs on the hill or in the landing paddock but there is also a necessary element of classroom theory. The classroom theory is delivered via a powerpoint presentation which, is clearly explained by our instructors.
Paragliding Course Notes
- Course Fee includes all paragliding equipment, instruction and transport to training and flying sites from the main office.
- Included in the paragliding course cost is a copy of Paragliding Learn To Fly. This DVD will enable you to grasp most of the concepts prior to doing the course and accelerate the learning process.
- The school also video the course and you get a DVD to take away with you.
- All of the courses have 2 instructors and a driver. This ensures that you are not wasting time standing around in the landing area and get the maximum amount of flights done.
- Note: The Hang Gliding Federation Of Australia now requires all license course participants to become short-term members. This is an additional fee of $150 and is payable before the start of the paragliding course.
- Note: We prefer you to do this paragliding course in a block of 9 days as you learn much quicker this way, however if you have a problem getting the time off work you can split the course into 2 stages.
