- A great Time
- Smiths Lake/Sandbar - Winds: SE or NE. Butter Flat water on edge of the Lake sand bar with the wind coming straight over it from the ocean. Each end of the Lake has Hills so if the wind doesn't have east in it forget it and westerlies are too gusty.
- Wallis Lake - Winds: SW to NW. (westerly rotation) NW winds are cleaner but SW will still work and you can do some good downwind runs in the SW from the conference centre at Tiona to the Wallis Lake sailing club. As it is a big lake you can expect wind chop and swell on the bigger blows. Launching and landing are either assisted or for intermediate to advanced or water launch for beginners due to the trees.
- Pipers Bay - Winds: Strong S or SW and its like a fan. Butter Flat water can be found behind the weed banks. Expert launching from the land due to trees or again water launch. Out in the water are boat moorings and poles around them so be careful.
- Black Head Back Beach Reef Winds: NE to SW. (easterly rotation) This is ocean so swell can be a factor but this spot is one of my favourites as it has a flat rock shelf out into the ocean and the wind just tears over it leaving the surface like glass. Need we say more!!!
- Diamond Beach - Winds: N through to SE. Deep-water ocean swells roll into this area with a narrow shoreline, for the more experienced riders. Right handers running off the reef to the south end of the beach prove to be fun in a NE wind. South east winds provide good waves right in front of the look out.
- Black Head - Back Beach Reef - Winds: N to SW. This is ocean so swell can be a factor but this spot is a favourite as it has a flat rock shelf out into the ocean and the wind just tears over it leaving the surface like glass, need say more!!!
- Tuncurry Beach - Nine Mile - Winds: N,NE, S, SE. Large offshore waves can be found on Tuncurry bar especially on run out tide and NE to SE winds. Inside surf area produces quality left hand and right hand waves to be found all along the beach break area. BEWARE OF SURFERS AND SWIMMERS IN THE BREAK AREA.
