Extreme Sports Café partner Kitesurfing School is an IKO centre and has been running for over 8 years now. Our partner Brazil Kitesurfing School is located in the city of Cabo Frio with another kite spot in Busios 110km from Rio de Janeiro. The distance between kite clubs is about 35 km/22 miles or 30 minutes by car.
Cabo Frio is a regional centre town and the biggest and most developed town in the Região dos Lagos (Lakes Region) of Rio.. It is not crowded and serves all you could need.
The kite club is in Praia do Foguete, the most magnificent beach of this city with white sand dunes, cristal-clear water and constant wind. Advanced riders will prefer to practice just in front of the club on ocean waves, beginners and flat water addicts will choose the Arubinha sandbar in the lake.
Just 105 km from Rio de Janeiro, a pleasant 2-hour trip takes you to the peninsula of Buzios, whose more than 20 magnificent beaches and crystal-clear water contrast with the exuberantly sculptured landscape, exotic vegetation and a wonderful year-round summer. There are many climate factors, such as El Nino, which changed a lot the climate of South America. It was observed that since 2001, there is a non-defined season for wind. Kitesurfing Lessons - The kite surfing lessons generally start between 10 and 11 am or 2pm. Each lesson has 1 or 2 students per instructor with one rescue boat. Kitesurfing course prices include all necessary equipment for kite surfing lessons, transportation to the kitespots, rescue boat, help on setup, launch and land.

Basic Kitesurfing Course 2-Days
This kite surfing course teaches you the basics of kite surfing giving you a great start in the sport.
On the first day you spend around an hour and half learning theory: setting up the equipment, managing the kite in the neutral and the power zone, wind theory and all the safety issues.
The objective of the first day is to make the student dominate the kite in all situations, landing and re-launching hooked and unhooked from the harness.
The objective of the second day is to stand up on the board and dominating the kite.
Intensive Basic Kitesurfing Course 1-Day
Intermediate Kitesurfing Course 2-Days
You may need several days to complete this kite surfing course depending on your abilities and skills. You will be able to ride upwind and do your first jump! During this kite boarding program, you will learn how to manage your practice area and to choose your equipment. Your kite flying skills will be improved and you will learn how to control your direction and power, and come back to your starting point.
You should be kiteboarder level 2 or of equivalent skill level to do this kite surfing course.
Advanced Kitesurfing Course 4-Hours per day
This is for learning or improving on, all those kitesurfing tricks and jumps you try to or would like to do.
You should be kiteboarder level 3 or equivalent skill level to do this kite surfing course.
5 days of kite surfing lessons (2:30hrs per day, personal kite instructor)
4 nights of single accommodation
10 days of kite surfing lessons (2:30hrs per day, personal kite instructor)
9 nights of single accommodation breakfast included.

Renting Kitesurfing Equipment - To rent kite surfing equipment at the kite school, you have to demonstrate skills of at least IKO level 1 and know basic safety rules. We work with Wipika inflatable kites and have 29 kites from 2 to 20 m2 (flat area) 2 and 4 lines with moderate and high aspect ratio, 13 boards (mono, TT and wake), different bars, lines and harnesses, safety kits and all the stuff you will need for kitesurfing.
- Kitesurfing rental prices include transportation to the kitespot on our boat, rescue boat for 1 day, help on setup, launch and landing.

Cabo Frio The Arubinha kitespot: flat water and clear wind.
- Arubinha is the largest sandbar of the Araruama Lake. It is a popular spot for locals and people from Rio de Janeiro as well as for tourist kitesurfers who stay in the Rio area. The atmosphere here is very friendly and positive and sometimes you can meet world-known riders, practicing here.
- One side of the sandbar is deep enough for jumps, the other side is shallow like a natural pool, offering a quick and safe learning. There is always one flat side and one curly side. Arubinha offers very good and constant wind, with an average of 4 to 5 windy days per week during the all year, and not to gusty, between 12 to 25 knots.

Praia do Foguete: The most magnificent beach of Cabo Frio
- This beach stretches several kilometres from the Cabo Frio city line up to the Arrial do Cabo. The spot is free of obstacles wide beach area with white sand dunes, cristal-clear water and constant cross-onshore wind. The ocean water temperature is lower than in the lagoon, so on some days you need to wear a short 3mm neoprene suit.
