Borrowing from wakeboarding, windsurfing, power kite flying and many other active sports, kitesurfing is accessible to everyone. For most, this will be the 1st time to experience an eXtreme sport, and it is that! 200 miles south of Manila lies the tropical paradise of Boracay. Only 8 miles long and 1 mile wide, the island is surrounded by white sand beaches and covered in lush tropical vegetation. Boracay is perfectly formed to offer some of the best kite surfing, wind surfing and diving conditions in the whole region. Join Extreme Sports Café on Boracay for Kitesurfing lessons and tuition for all levels.
Boracay offers a unique lifestyle for locals and visitors. Having avoided the ravages of mass tourism, Boracay maintains a great beach community atmosphere. Sandy paths connect the island and everyone walks.
You probably won't see a car during your entire stay. Most amenities are within 10 minutes walk of each other, stretched out along White Beach, one of the world’s most beautiful stretches of powder white sand. Whether you're into watersports or not there is something here for everyone. Just watch as your pace of life slows down and your worries fade to nothing…it's going to be difficult going back to the office.
Evenings are never dull. Start off at one of the chilled beach bars taking your time over a couple of rum cokes to decide what to eat. Mongolian, Korean, Thai, Japanese, Filipino, Indian, French or Swiss food from one of the many restaurants along White Beach. After dinner you'll want to move on to a friendly bar to either relax, mix, dance or try your hand at singalong (karaoke Filipino style), you're always made to feel welcome by warm hearted locals.
Extreme Sports Cafe's partner Boracay Kitesurfing School is perfectly located right on the beach. There is a rigging area, along with changing facilities, toilets and board storage. Storage for customers kites and boards and full beach service is available with compressor. The center shop is stocked with the latest available and used equipment as well as everything you’ll need for kitesurfing. You can get drinks and meals all day at The beach Café. Getting There - The Philippines Boracay
You cannot fly directly to Boracay. Boracay does not have an airport. You need to get to Manila first. There are flights to Manila from just about all of the Philippines Asian neighbors, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Japan and Malaysia as well as direct flights from the USA, Australia and most European countries.
The quickest way to travel to Boracay Island, is to take a plane from Manila domestic terminal and fly to the island of Panay in the Visayas. The two flight options you have are to fly directly to either the cities of Kalibo or Caticlan on Panay Island.
- The flight time to either city is 1 hour.
- The best flight is via Caticlan. The planes are smaller and do not fly quite as high and the view you get is absolutely awesome.
- The other benefit is that Caticlan is the jump off port to catch a ferry or banca boat to Boracay Island. So the transfer time from plane to ferry is minimal, no more than 10 minutes.
- The airlines that travel to either Kalibo or Caticlan are Philippine Airlines, Asian Spirit, Cebu Pacific or Air Philippines.
Note: If you are staying our recommended Resort then transfers from Caticlan to the resort can be arranged & booked for you on request through us. For Boracay Resort accommodation whilst kite surfing at our partner Boracay Kitesurfing School please check our Boracay Accommodation page.
Once you have reached Caticlan, you have a twenty minute banca (boat) trip to Boracay Island.
- The banca trip will drop you off at one of the three Boat Stations on White Beach, which is on the west coast of Boracay Island.
- The 3 Boat Stations are Boat Station 1, 2 or 3. They line White Beach and are the points that designate where you will be dropped off, depending on where your resort or accommodation is. Boat Station 1 is the furthermost north, whilst Boat Station 3 is the closest to Caticlan, with Boat Station 2 is in the middle.
- When you get off the banca boats, remember that you will not have the luxury of a wharf. You will be arriving directly at the beach. We recommend that you wear shoes that are easily removed or that will not be damaged if they get wet, because you will have to disembark into the water.
Boracay The Philippines Other Activities
Apart from the kite surfing, Boracay offers the non-sailor a multitude of ways to unwind and relax. The island is beautiful, covered in lush tropical vegetation and surrounded by powder white sand beaches. There are many first class dive sites around Boracay, and this is a perfect place to learn at our PADI Scuba diving centre. Or you can just kick back and relax with massages, sunbathing, beach walks and the odd cocktail or two.
- Boracay Scuba Diving, Boracay Wind surfing and Boracay Kitesurfing are only a few of the many ways to enjoy Boracay. You won't find better beaches for sunbathing, reading or taking a dip. And you can fill days at a time by having a Shiatsu massage at Fausto's, coffee at Nadines, cocktails at the Wreck Bar and beach walks, visits to the market, and bike rides.
