Mahout Training Thailand (Elephant Training Thailand)
How often do you pick up a newspaper, magazine or turn on TV to a documentary of the abused or exploited elephant? This problem may not be as significant as global warming, but it is of grave concern to us in a country where elephants are not only indigenous, but are of religious and symbolic significance. Our Thailand Adventure partners are significantly concerned with the condition and welfare of the Thailand National Symbol and would like to invite you to not only help those in need, but to get involved in the life of the elephants and their mahouts.

Join us for 1, 3 or 7days of Mahout Training (Elephant Training) or for longer if you wish. There is no better way to understand how important Elephant conservation is, than to get involved personally. You'll become one with the elephant and its mahout in their natural jungle environment. This truly is a unique elephant experience.
- No picnic lunches or restaurants. We bring rice portions only and live off the land. As both you and the elephant forage for food, roots, grain and plants, you'll also find and learn the use of natural medicines the elephants know by instinct.
- You'll develop a feel for the personality of Chang (elephant) and his contentment with human company. Chang is a social animal and will happily bond with humans, as it attested by the relationship between he (or she) and their mahout.
- You'll learn to find joy in bathing, feeding and the playful antics of the elephant, as you ride, (no harness or saddle), walk, lead, or be led by your companion.
- Once you've experienced this adventure and relationship with our Chang, (elephant) you can then truly understand the outcry in the papers and TV.
- Our goal is to increase awareness and understanding of this great animal and provide funding for the care and medical needs of those Chang (elephant) not as fortunate as those you've befriended.

Day-1 Mahout Training (Elephant Training)
Day-2 Mahout Training (Elephant Training)
- 06.00 am. Up with the rooster, to feed your elephant prior to your breakfast.
- 08.30 am. After bathing your elephant, we review his/her language commands and mount/dismount procedures.
- 12.00 am. Traditional lunch.
- 01.00 pm. Mount up for an exciting walk to and across the river to their bath site for some playful water antics, then up into the jungle with mahout & machete clearing a path to the black mud bath. Who knows who's bathing who, during this fun experience but you're both covered in mud. The elephants freely roam as you search for jungle root & bamboo root for elephant treat & your own dinner.
- 05.00 pm. We return to the river to again bath the mud from you both, once you've tethered your elephant. You go into the fields to cut grass for their dinner (250 kg per elephant). Once they are content and watered. We communally prepare dinner from what we've harvested on our trip, and after saying good night to your new friend we call it a night.
Day-3 Mahout Training (Elephant Training)
- 06.00 am. Again up with the roosters to feed & water your elephant prior to your breakfast.

08.00 am. Prepare your own lunch pouch to bring into the jungle with you. Roam the jungle learning about the roots & herbs which the elephants know instinctively.

- 12.00 am. Casual lunch under the trees as your "new friend" roam freely. Then back to the mud baths for mutual play prior to returning to the river cross. You'll enjoy a short stop as you lumber thru the local village and maybe acquire some bananas for you both.
